Background of the Study
Maternal nutrition education is a crucial intervention aimed at improving dietary behaviors and pregnancy outcomes. Proper nutrition during pregnancy reduces the risk of maternal and neonatal complications, including low birth weight, preterm birth, and micronutrient deficiencies. Studies have shown that women who receive nutrition education make healthier dietary choices, leading to improved fetal growth and overall pregnancy well-being.
In Nasarawa State, maternal malnutrition remains a significant public health issue, with many pregnant women lacking access to nutrition education and dietary guidance. Poor maternal dietary practices are often influenced by cultural beliefs, financial constraints, and inadequate healthcare services. Despite efforts by healthcare providers to promote nutrition education, many women remain uninformed about the importance of proper dietary intake during pregnancy. This study aims to assess the impact of maternal nutrition education on pregnancy outcomes in Nasarawa State.
Statement of the Problem
Inadequate maternal nutrition is a leading cause of poor pregnancy outcomes in Nasarawa State. Many women lack knowledge about essential nutrients required for fetal development, leading to malnutrition-related complications. While antenatal clinics provide some level of nutrition education, the effectiveness of these interventions remains unclear. There is a need to evaluate how maternal nutrition education influences dietary choices and pregnancy outcomes in Nasarawa State.
Objectives of the Study
To assess the level of maternal nutrition education among pregnant women in Nasarawa State.
To examine the impact of nutrition education on dietary choices during pregnancy.
To evaluate the effect of maternal nutrition education on pregnancy outcomes.
Research Questions

Pregnant women with higher nutrition education have better pregnancy outcomes.
Nutrition education significantly improves dietary choices during pregnancy.
Poor maternal nutrition education is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on pregnant women in Nasarawa State, examining how nutrition education affects their dietary choices and pregnancy outcomes. Limitations include variability in educational interventions and self-reported dietary assessments.
